With international cricket finding its way back in Pakistan, Sri Lanka on Sunday 29 Oct, 2017 morning landed in the country almost eight years since they were targeted in a terrorist attack in 2009 in Lahore, set to play the third and final match of the T20I series in a historical moment for the nation. “It’s nice to be in Pakistan again,” said Sri Lankan Captain Perera, who was part of the World XI last month. “We are thankful for a warm welcome and will do our best to entertain the crowd with some good cricket.”
Sri Lanka´s sports minsiter Dayasiri Jayasekera and Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) President Thilanga Sumathipala are also on the tour while a two-member security delegation is in Lahore for the last two days to oversee security arrangements.
“We are thankful to the Sri Lankan team for coming to Pakistan and I request the fans to support both the teams during the match,” said Pakistan captain Sarfraz Ahmed. The Gaddafi Stadium was filled to its 25,000 capacity for the October 29 match, with fans carrying placards reading, “Welcome back Sri Lankan Lions.”

LAHORE: Sri Lankan Sports Minister Dayasiri Jayasekara thanked Pakistan for the excellent security arrangements made for the last Twenty20 game of the series at Lahore.
The Sri Lankan Sports Minister met his Pakistani counterpart Hussain Pirzada at Pakistan Sports Board and reviewed ways to enhance sporting ties between the two countries. Pirzada said that Pakistan has become a safe country for sports. “The arrival of Sri Lankan cricket team in Pakistan is a clear message to the whole world,” he said. Jayasekara, speaking on the occasion, said that Pakistan made excellent security arrangement.
