Pakistan tests Babur-2 cruise missile successfully
14 Dec: Pakistan has successfully tested its indigenously developed Babur-2 cruise missile, as stated by a press release from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR). The new missile improves upon the earlier version with advanced aerodynamics and avionics and can strike targets on both land and sea at a range of 700-km. Being a cruise missile, it flies low, closer to the terrain and carries certain stealth features. It is also capable of carrying various types of warheads.
The launch was witnessed by Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General ZubairMahmood Hayat, senior officers from the Strategic Plans Division, Strategic Forces, scientists and engineers of strategic organisations. General Hayat said that Babur will add to the country’s deterrence.
