By Tayyaba Tehseeni

Pakistan have completed 18,980 days and 52 years of their defence and celebrated their success against the neighbor country India that marked the ceasefire in 1965 war on 6th September. Remembrance of the martyred people of Pakistan Army who sacrificed their lives for the defence of the country. Patriotism was on its peak, No one felt any kind of hesitation while given their precious lives at the time of need. When Indian forces attacked Pakistan across the international border without a warning or a declaration of war, that was the vary shameful act of India which claims to be the largest democracy in the world was utter violence of international law, charter of united nations and norms of civilized behavior among states. India arrogantly swept aside their international commitments in their desire to subjugate the region.

Armed forces of India entered in Pakistan at dawn on 6th September, they aimed of defeating the Pakistani troops guarding area and capturing Lahore. It was a time when not just our soldiers, but the whole Pakistani nation was cast into mould of cohesive unit to protect and defend our homeland. India’s attack against Lahore was held and beaten back with heavy losses to the attackers. Pakistan air force was able to blunt the Indian offensive and roll it back. During the operations India captured about 400 square miles of Pakistani territory but lost around 1600 square miles of its own to Pakistan. The main reason behind this war was Kashmir issue which is still on the way for solution while this war, many people lost their lives from both countries. The war ended with the mediation efforts of the USSR and a peace agreement was signed in Tashkent.  Pakistan emerged from the September 1965 war with India, a strong and self-confident nation, proud of itself and its armed forces.

President of Islamic republic of Pakistan presented Nishan-e-Haider (the highest military award of Pakistan) to soldiers who has showed great feats of bravery and courage in war or on active duty. It is a coincidence that all recipients of “Nishan-e-Haider’ gave away the most valuable thing they had -their lives- while serving the nation and in defending the frontiers of the motherland.

The war of Pakistan and India in 1965 has the largest tank battle after the Second World War. Pakistani Forces crushed the Indian dreams of defeating Pakistan, we will do the same in future if India again thinks to attack on Pakistan. We have the ability to wipe out entire India in few seconds from the Subcontinent. By crushing the enemy, we proudly marked Defence Day.

On every year, Pakistani Nation recollect the memory of this day as Defence Day of Pakistan which give us the motivational lesson of sacrifice our precious lives for the beloved country in hard times as brave martyred people of Pakistan leave remarkable examples of bravery and sacrifices for beloved home land. On defence day Pakistan Army displays the latest missiles, tanks, guns, army aviation helicopters and armament being used by Engineers, Electrical and Mechanical Corps, Army Air Defence, Signals, Army Service Corps and Army Medical Corps live on various places and Pakistan television telecast it live. Patriotism level increase itself in new generation through Seminars, National songs and special documentaries about 6th September, martyred people of Indo-Pak war 1965.

As Our Quaid said “There is No power on earth that can undo Pakistan” Our success is the result of our martyrs and ghazis, May Allah gives us the strength, courage and determination, to protect and safeguard our country at all costs, the freedom and honour of our homeland.
